Dumb Bush

Help me out. Why are Bush's self-deprecations about being dumb funny? Why can he get away with joking about not being able to "talk good" and people laugh and like him for it? He is the President of the United States. He grew up with more money than most of us will see in our lifetime. He went to Yale and Harvard. A few days ago I posted an interview with D.L. Hughley on Aaron Brown in which he said
This is a rich white dude who went to Yale. He didn't go to Compton College. If -- if a rich white dude who went to Yale doesn't have command of the English language, he's lazy. That's the deal. He didn't have to walk through a gang-infested neighborhood to do that, just walk past the servants and go to school.
And it's true. He is a man who has had everything handed to him in his life. A man whose daddy (and daddy's friends) were there to catch him, or clean up after him, every time he failed - and he failed a lot. He is fundamentally lazy. I know that part of it is an act. That it's his way of seeming like plain old folk. But I find the irony rich that a man who is proud of being a C student in college spent so much of tonight touting education as a cure all. Honestly, if you can be dumb and be president why bother studying?
