Echo Company

KnightRidder is running a devastating special section about the Marines of Echo Company. It contains the photos and video diary of David Swanson a Philadelphia Inquirer photographer who was embedded for two weeks in Ramadi, as well as profiles and photos of the dozen Marines who were killed during his embed. For me, the most heart-breaking section was the audio interviews of the family members; the love they have for their slain sons as they read the letters home, remember their lives and describe the day the two Marines in dress blues came to their doors to tell them that their child was dead.

And for what?
